Ask HN: What happens when eventually all E2E mess. apps removed from app stores?

What happens when eventually all E2E messaging apps are removed from app/play stores? After that most internet communication between humans only allowed if the state or countries records all of it?

Are you all ready for this in few years? Sure some people can use linux/grapheneos but they are few % only and I talk about majority of people in the internet.

At first "but its no big deal, you can still sideload".

As sideloading gets worse, "but you can still use web versions of platforms you trust".

As those get outlawed in the name of "anti-terrorism" or "protecting kids", "but only criminals use those. You gotta trust your country, we'll use this information responsibly and there will be full oversight".

(I am shorting tinfoil stocks rn.)

(btw, "sideloading" still bugs me, i feel like it should just be called "installing software".)

Probably not even if apps are removed people will still find ways to use them.

While this is my initial thought as well, I can't imagine more than a few million people getting away with this.
